About me
Lee Anne Larsen is the Director of Early Learning in Maine’s Department of Education (DOE) where she leads a variety of early learning initiatives and supports early childhood policy and programming development. Holding a BS in Early Childhood Education and Family Studies from the University of New Hampshire, a MS in Elementary Education from the University of New Hampshire, and a CAS in Literacy Education from the University of Maine, she has 35 years of experience in the early childhood and early elementary sectors, including 25 years in Maine’s Department of Education. Prior to her current role, she spent 15 years working as the Maine DOE’s Literacy Specialist. Previously, she taught across the preschool to early elementary span and worked as a Literacy Coordinator for a Maine school system. She has also served as an adjunct instructor for the University of Maine. Supporting Maine children, families, and communities in shaping high-quality early learning experiences has been a central focus of her career.
